Billy Graham-The World’s Spiritual Patriarch

November 7, 1918 – February 21, 2018

America, for the past century, has been shepherded by the greatest spiritual leader, evangelist, and minister ever known.

The Reverend Billy Graham’s ministry will continue to reach to the far corners of the world with his sermons, books, teachings and ministry.

He accomplished much because he gave all of his life to Christ.

His words, filled with the power of the Holy Spirit, encouraged and compelled men, women, and children of many nations to accept God’s forgiveness, repent of their sins, and surrender their whole life to the Lordship of Jesus Christ.

And yes, many more will accept Christ, even until Jesus returns.

I, for one, have benefited from his counseling and have been inspired by his sermons.

A quote from Billy Graham is a clear reflection of how he lived out his life and direction on how we should live as well:

“Being a Christian is more than just an instantaneous conversion – it is a daily process whereby you grow to be more and more like Christ.”

Though his passing from this world to Heaven leaves a void in many hearts, in Heaven there is great rejoicing!

Thank you, Heavenly Father, for blessing us with your servant, Billy Graham, and with his lasting legacy of living a Christ-like life.

May the family, friends, loved ones and those who loved the Reverend Graham be comforted, strengthened and challenged to follow his example of serving God with all your heart, mind, soul and strength.

A New Heart Of Song

Art Heart

I’m forgiven, all sin is gone

I’m forgiven, held the past too long

This day is new, I live in you

I’m forgiven, give glory to God

At times my past came to haunt me with shame

For trespasses done though Jesus did save

The secret’s surrendered-under His blood

It flowed to the sea forgotten by God

I’m forgiven, all sin is gone

I’m forgiven, no burden I don

In love and peace I stay all day

I’m forgiven, give glory to God

Does someone have a sorrowful soul?

Of sin you committed a long time ago

Believe in His word, it’s true what it says

Just forgive yourself and go on in His stead

You’re forgiven, all sin is gone

You’re forgiven, held the burden too long

This day is new, now live in His Truth

You’re forgiven, give glory to God

Perhaps there’s a soul who needs to be free

The wrong in your life, it binds and deceives

Confess and repent, make a one-eighty

Jesus died for you, won the victory

We’re forgiven, all sin is gone

We’re forgiven, a new heart of song

This day is new, we live in His truth

We’re forgiven, to praise and serve God!

Dear Readers,

I hope this poem-song blesses you. It is a testimony of God’s work  in my life and of how much He loves you and me.

Love in Many Forms

Apples are one of my favorite fresh fruit that I try to eat daily. We know the famous cliché  associated with this important staple of our diets. Some of the other reasons I choose to eat them are convenience and flavor. Recently, I began to cut an apple in half  for my daughter’s lunch and discovered two seeds so close together  they appeared as twins, but in the shape of a heart.

Whenever I find hearts occurring in nature, I am reminded of God’s love for us all. He loves us so much He sent his only son, not to condemn us, but to save us through Him. (John 3:17 paraphrased)

Wonders like this displayed in my everyday life continue to amaze me. We serve an awesome God!

How about you? Please share one of the special moments in your life that He has blessed.

Heart’s Desire

Love the Lord, your God

I opened my Bible this morning to Psalms 37:4(NIV), “Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart.”

This is one of my favorite verses because it comes with a promise, and I enjoy reflecting on some of the desires that have been or are currently being fulfilled.

One desire I have is writing, which I’m fulfilling on this blog. Another desire is memorizing Bible verses. Years ago, I taught Bible verses to children and coached them as they competed with other children from different churches. Though not in this particular ministry anymore, I continue to delight in memorizing God’s Holy Word. Still another desire is speaking to small groups about the journey God has brought my family through in addition to offering the audience hope and encouragement.

I’ve also taken into account the times when my desires were not in line with God’s will. For years I wandered from the fold doing my own thing and many times I found my life filled with despair, discouragement and disappointment.

The picture featured above displays a message within the heart, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart..”

The concept of the verse in Psalms and the commandment printed within the shape of a heart are both closely related. When I am loving God with all my heart, I find a blissful delight. My desire should be to love him completely.

If I am not loving him with all my heart, there is something else crowding out his love.

Then I remember to return to him seeking him with all my heart. I find another promise fulfilled. “Come near to God and he will come near to you, wash your hands you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double minded.” James 4:8 (NIV)

However, the verse before it is, “Submit therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.”

I think verse seven helps keep the believer on track, when heeded. It will save time, disappointment and grief.

I prefer to be delighted. How about you?

Please share your blessings of abundant delight or leave a comment at the end of this post.

Loving God

“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.” (Mark 12:30 NIV)

Help us, dear Lord, to have hearts that are free to love you as you have requested in your Holy Word.

Reveal to us any secret sin that may cause deception, thereby keeping us from loving you as we should.

Forgive us our trespasses through your Son, Jesus, and purify our souls.

For when our souls are pure and holy, our minds can think according to your Word.

As we meditate on your Word, we find comfort, hope, peace, direction, illumination, wisdom, knowledge and strength.

In your Presence, there is fullness of joy, and the joy of the Lord is our strength.

Thank you, Heavenly Father, that you loved us so much that you gave your Son, Jesus, to the whole world as part of your plan of redemption and Eternal Life.

Thank you Jesus, for the love you gave to each of us in that you went to the cross and you took our sins upon you, though you were without sin. You sacrificed your life in order that we may have the remission of sins and the gift of your Holy Spirit. Thank you for the hope of your promise that we’ll one day have the privilege of living with you for eternity.

We love because you first loved us, and it is your love that flows through us.

God is love and he who abides in God, abides in love, and God in him.

Help us love you more and serve you better than we did the day before.

In Jesus name, Amen.

May God Have Mercy On Us All

Will God’s Mercy on our country continue when  President Obama has not defended the sanctity of human life, the sanctity of marriage and most recently, Israel-His chosen people? Will those who love the Lord God with all their heart, mind, soul and strength seek to defend the issues that are under attack? God has shed His Grace on America, thus we Americans have been blessed with freedom of religion, speech and worship. It is time to be ready and watch in fervent prayer; for the salvation of the multitudes including our leaders, for God’s protection over Israel and own country… while we have light.
